WelcomeSometimes, we can find that we are struggling to cope with our thoughts, feelings or experiences. We may be experiencing a difficult life event such as the death of a loved one, or perhaps find ourselves stuck in a pattern of behaviour we wish we could change. We may be experiencing complex feelings that are hard to understand or just have a general sense of dissatisfaction with how our life is.
Therapy is a way of understanding the way we feel, think and behave. As our awareness of ourselves develops, so does the opportunity to decide if there is something we want to change or grow to accept. As a humanistic relational therapist, I offer a safe space and the opportunity for a supportive relationship in which you can explore the issues in your life. I am based in Yateley, Hampshire, and available to see clients online or in person. Please be aware that if you are limited in your mobility, my practice room is on the first floor. About TherapyThere are many different types of therapist; I am a humanistic relational psychotherapist.
The term ‘humanistic’ refers to the theoretical models that I trained in; Transactional Analysis, Gestalt and Person Centred therapies. The foundation of these theories is inherently positive and empowering and are of the belief that we all have value as people and are doing the best we can, in our own unique circumstances. Humanistic therapists believe that whatever our individual history or situation, we all have the potential for greater understanding of ourselves, and for growth and change. The term ‘relational’ means that I work in a collaborative way, rather than giving you advice or telling you what I think the issue is. ‘Relational’ also describes how, because most of the difficulties that bring us to therapy arise from our experiences in relationships with others, our problems can also be helped by a relationship with a safe, trustworthy and ethical other. My aim as a therapist is to provide the opportunity for this type of relationship as a vehicle for healing. That might all sound rather complicated. Put simply, my role is to learn about you and what life is like for you, support you and empower you to make whatever decisions you choose to make. I believe that you are not only capable of growth or change, but that you deserve to be happy and fulfilled. |
